Perfect multi-purpose cookbook...

I received this as a gift for Christmas and it turned out to be one of the best gifts I received! We've used it multiple times since and have always been more than pleased with the results.

In terms of construction, the cookbook is very well constructed. It is a 3-ring binder format with glossy pages, real life pictures and a clear and concise lay-out. The authors have also added in useful tidbits here and there about products (much like they do in Cook's Illustrated). For example, they have a little section about the best peanut butter to buy..or the best olive oil.

The recipes themselves are very easy to follow and not too fussy (I've found some of the Cook's Illustrated recipes to be fussy but I don't feel the same way about these). The authors provide thorough descriptions for each recipe and they also do a good job of explaining why they are making certain recommendations.

Thus far, I've tried making the lemon meringue pie, the key lime pie, the apple pie (I like pies!), the steak and chicken fajitas, pizza with chopped tomato pizza sauce, chicken and broccoli penne, the stuffed shells and the hashed browns. All were terrific!

I highly recommend this as your go-to all-purpose cookbook.

This is the BEST

Unlike many of the cookbooks I have purchased, this one has been THOROUGHLY researched . The recipes are only finalized after many different methods and ingredients have been tested. The book has dozens of useful tips. I now cook almost exclusively using this wonderful book. You can't go wrong buying this book.

The Best Cookbook

I have purchased and given five of these cookbooks. My copy is well used and I have heard good reports from those I have given it to. Every recipe turns out great and the detailed instructions and photos are so helpful. They test each recipe many times until satisfied with the results. Sometimes they change the technique and do not use the conventional preparation procedure. I try recipes out of this book with great confidence and highly recommend it.

nice book, good information

I bought this book for my daughter. She and I both think it is nicely presented with good information. We both like the photos, especially the instruction photos for procedures. We like that the authors insert their own reviews of various products, in appropriate places (although occasionaly they seemed overly biased...with some things there is no "better or worse", only "different"). I gave only 4 stars because I don't know how well the binder might hold up over time. It does not appear to be sturdy enough for a book this size. I will probably put a protective cover on it to extend its life.
