Easy setup and outstanding performance
I bought this as a replacement for my DI-624, another quality D-
Link
product that lasted me almost 6 years (I had it running/downloading 24/7 and the
wireless
chipset began to give out; usually
router
s only last 2-3 years with heavy use like that). This is one quality upgrade...
For starters, the
DGL
-
4300
has a high-quality (not sure if it is high-gain or not) antenna out of the box which immediately gave me a better signal throughout my home. The Admin interface is easy to use and has many more features than its predecessors. Be warned though: this is a "
gaming
" router, and all of the Admin function revolve around this principle, with port profiles for many popular games.
It does not have to be used exclusively for gaming, so don't be turned off with all of the jargon! The GameFuel technology it boasts is simply a fancy way of saying "bandwidth prioritization," and can be used for *anything* including VoIP services (so your call quality can be clearer). However, I am a gamer and used it "as advertised" for my X-box Live connection and instantly began to see better performance through online play, even when my wife was downloading music on her PC!
Security is easy to setup, with the option of 128-bit WEP and WPA methods, as well as MAC filtering (in order for any device to access your signal, they would need to have its unique MAC address stored on the device). Bottom line: no one will be accessing your signal without your permission!
All-in-all, this is a great upgrade for anyone with an older wireless router, and probably the best starter router anyone could get without new 802.11n technology. I highly recommend it as well as any other
D-Link
product.

Fantastic bang for buck.
I've had this
router
for about a year now and have had much success with it. I therefore feel I can provide a fair review.
Pros:
-Large feature set
-Easy to configure in Basic mode
-Great advanced features for advanced users
-GameFuel priority routing is handy and noticeable in practice
-Gigabit LAN is great for hard-wired connections
-Solid security feature set; very highly configurable
-Easy to manage security exemptions, etc. should you choose to use them
-Refined firmware is a huge plus
-This product just managed to edge out
Link
Sys in my opinion
Cons:
-Actual
D-Link
support isn't great, but there is a wealth of information on the internet, so this really isn't a problem.
-The painted finish got all gooey when someone tried to clean the thing with glass cleaner.
Overall:
Fantastic bang for the buck. Greatly increase
wireless
signal strength and quality with an upgraded antenna (i.e. D-Link ANT24-0700). With the rebate, it's tough to beat!

Great for PS3 - Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii
I'm writting this review because I read some of the others before I bought this
Router
, I noticed most people mentioned the PS3 and Xbox 360 worked fine with this router but couldn't find any reffering to the Nintendo Wii, so I bought it at Fry's and hoped it would work!
I got home and followed the "quick install guide" included in the package (plus instructions in the
gaming
systems) and I was done with the complete setup in about 30 minutes (it took me a while to figure out how to secure the signal)
All I can say is that I scored with this router!
This is my setup...
ROUTER IS IN MY ROOM
Xbox 360 - Wired (In my room)
PC - Wired (In my room)
PS3 -
Wireless
(In the living room)
Nintendo Wii - Wireless (In my kids room)
I am now playing Halo 3 on Xbox live (took a break to write this review) my younger son is downloading Wii software updates and my older son is playing Metal Gear Solid 4 online and everything is working great!
The only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five is because I could not find any direct instructions on how to secure the signal, got help from Yahoo Answers.

D-Link DGL 4300 Wireless Router
I bought this to replace my 6 year old
Link
sys
Wireless
B
router
which finally stopped broadcasting. The
D-link
was recommended by the tech guys at our company. I had no problem installing it, which was a tremendous difference from my Linksys B and another Linksys G router I use elsewhere (not for long). Setting up WEP security was simple and our laptops in the house picked up the signal quickly. We have only used it about a month, but it seems quite good. One house member says it's a bit slow in his room, but the rest of us are happy.
