Just the vac I've been looking for!!

I've been looking for a small, decently powered handheld to clean our stairs with. This fits the bill perfectly. It drew up the pet hair without a flinch and the attached hose is way handy for the corners and angles and there was plenty of suction. The other two hand vacs I have are handy but have such poor suction they were a waste of money. This one is a little gem - I recommend it!!

Amazing! I love this vac.

I bought this vac about 7 months ago and I love it. It does a great job removing cat fur from my long haired cat from my micro-suede type couch. Nothing else I have tried has done anywhere close to this good a job. It is also really handy for picking up spilled snacks from my kids. I just cleaned the vents on the bottom of my fridge and the amount of suction from the wand attachment was great. The long cord was also really helpful since there isn't an available outlet by my fridge.

2 drawbacks though. One, it is a little heavy if you are going to be using it for a long time but for little spot cleaning it doesn't bother me. The other problem is the amount of suction also creates a strong air flow coming out the back of the vac. If you turn the vac the wrong way while cleaning up light things (rice krispies, potting soil) it will blow the mess all over the place.

I would strongly recommend this vacuum to anyone.

Powerful Little Fur-Magnet!

Have had this little wonder for 6 months now, and think that should be enough to rate / review it.

Pros and any could-be considered Cons are included below:

1)
The Eureka 71-B has POWERFUL SUCTION. This is because it runs on A/C current, and not batteries - a quality that sets it apart from many other hand-vacs. You never have to recharge it, and it gives pretty much consistent suction power with good upkeep.

Sort-of-Con
For some, the downside would be that it is thus much HEAVIER than many hand-vacs (due to its motor, I guess).
I say "for some", because if you're like me, you may have spent a lot of time and money searching for a reliable vac with strong suction to clean your stairs and car, and to PICK UP THE ENDLESS HAIR from your otherwise precious dog.
This hand-vac will do all that for you, with no need to stop and recharge.

2)
This hand-vac has a wide brush base that allows it to cover a wider surface then most hand vacs. This makes it quicker and easier to clean your stairs, for instance.
In fact, its cleaning base is wider than many of the stair-cleaning attachments I've seen for non-hand vacs.
Additionally, since the brush base is part of its body - rather than an add-on - you don't lose any suction power as you mostly would using an attachment.
Further, the brush base has a visor that you flip back and forth depending on whether you want to clean flat surfaces or vertical ones (like the back of a chair).

Now, the Eureka 71B does come with one attachment - the indispensable crevice tool. (you may find it possible - as I have - to attach other tools from previous regular-sized vacuums.)

Sort-of-Con (for some)
This is not a machine with hundreds of attachments, but what it has is more than adequate for stairs, furniture and cars. I also use it in those tight spaces that I would usually skip when using my regular upright (to avoid the hassle of putting on an attachment or moving furniture around).

3)
As with any hand-vac, you don't have to lug out your regular vac to deal with small messes. But with the Eureka 71B, you know you're getting the same level of cleaning you would get from old faithful. No need for a do-over later.

4)
It's cinch to empty the cup on this little guy. Here's a hint...use old drier sheets to attract any stray hairs on the filter itself.

In Conclusion:
You get all this at the current price of

A very convenient to use hand vac. There are pros&cons to having it corded:no worries re battery oomph and reliability but can't just grab it and 'go'. It has a wide swath but doesn't get into corners or tight spots well.An extension to the on board hose would be handy. Overall a good performer especially on carpeted stairs. I'd recommend to friends and select to purchase again. It is too soon to rate it's durability having used it for only a month or so.
