Captivating: classical music infused with joy
This CD/DVD was incredible! As I listened to the music for the first time, the first thought that came to mind was "what joy and energy [the music was played with]!" Then I watched the DVD and could not help being blown away by the fun, fantasitc, five
Browns
!
For a young person who enjoys many types of music, this CD was one of the best additions to my classical library! It thrills me every time I listen. For my Dad and brothers it was also a joy, and you know what they say about a thing of beauty... I greatly look forward to another album by the Browns.
NOTE: I had no trouble whatsoever converting the CD tracks into MP3's and burning a copy disc.

Wonderful, wonderful!!!
The ensemble is exact, precise, incredible. They surely must have practiced their scales! On the other hand, their playing is as just as delicate as it can be strong. Love the whole thing. The Bernstein is breathtaking!
WOW!
My pianist son wanted this for his birthday and we watched parts of it before he left for home. All I can say is wow! If you appreciate good piano playing, you will be amazed by these 5 siblings.
Great Music/Great Technology!
The other reviewers have shared appropriate thoughts regarding this group of very talented musicians. To my untrained ear, their performances left me speachless. This is an amazing disc and wonderful music. I did want to comment on the ingenious DualDisc technology. Since I am a fan of multichannel/high resolution musical releases, I believe DualDisc might be the savior of surround music. I believe any time someone can offer such hybrid technology as DualDisc provides that utilize consumers' existing playback equipment, the more satisfied customers and sales will result. To have a compact disc and a multi-channel sound mix, along with videos is a heavenly combination. Thus far, the DualDiscs have performed flawlessly on every CD and DVD player I own. I suspect only ancient equipment would have problems with these discs.

True talent...yes! But there is something lacking.
I have to admit, YOUNG classical performers are becoming extremely hard to find. Another rarity is having five children of the same family enrolling in one of the world's greatest schools of music and performing extremely well and in sync when performing a five piano transcription piece is simply breathtaking. All five of these performers are simply amazing technically, and they have the fresh faces and looks to advertise themselves quite well. Not bad, if you ask me. However, they are young. Unless you are familiar with a certain composer, a piece will never become special or associated with you unless you've taken the time to bring out its intimate qualities. I personally prefer having a soloist pianist as opposed to a quintet, a quartet, or even a trio. While this circus performance the
Browns
present us is nonetheless an amazing feat, (something only few pianists can achieve now) especially with the calibre of their pieces, you can't help but feel empty at how hollow some of the pieces are. Every note is there, as one reviewer said, but then it is without a doubt just a display of technical brilliance sometimes. While I am not comparing them to Arrau, Horowitz, Rubinstein, Brendel, Cziffra, Argerich, or one of the greats, I can't help but feel like these musicians need some more time to get to know a composer for his piece.
I have to congratulate them for their great talent. I just have to say that I prefer soloists. I'm sure they'll do well. They are, after all, Juilliard graduates.
