"The circle is now complete"
"
Return
of the
Jedi
" brings the original
Star
Wars
trilogy to a thrilling close, mirroring the later "Revenge of the Sith." The movie opens in the subterranean pit home of the giant space slug, Jabba the Hutt, with Princess Leia his captive in a metallic bikini. The handsome Han Solo now serves as a decorative installation. Luke Skywalker, clad in black like a monk, comes to Jabba to rescue his friends. But it's easier said than done....
"Return" has exciting sequences- from Luke&his friends battling it out over a desert creature that is a toothed pit, to Luke battling one of Jabba's cave trolls for sport. Luke,Leia, and Han end up having to destroy the new Death Star--but they have to go to Endor, the land of the Ewoks. (Endor has its roots in the Bible. In the Old Testament, King Saul consults the Witch of Endor to speak to the dead prophet Samuel) Endor is a beautiful forest planet-mirroring Dagobah,Yoda's rural home as well as Alderaan, the destroyed planet of Leia. Again, it is about the triumph of Nature. Luke ends up battling the Emperor,as well as redeeming his father Darth Vader. One of the most gripping scenes is when Luke removes Darth's mask, revealing his ravaged, pale face. Darth sacrifices himself to save his son. The father/son bond is redeemed (strangely,he doesn't reconcile with his daughter Leia-maybe the fact he had her tortured in "A New Hope" scuttled that) The finale shows the peoples of the universe rejoicing. Han&Leia finally declare their love for each other.
"Return of the Jedi" is not the strongest of the trilogy-"Empire" takes those honors. Still,it's great fun and stands as a classic. It's a classic worth returning to again and again.

Episode
VI -
Return
of the
Jedi
When I was a kid, I couldn't stop watching this movie. It was so... happy. Anyway, let's get on topic. The Galactic Empire is making its desperate attempt to keep the galaxy under its control with a new and more intimidating Death Star (although it's incomplete). The bad***, Darth Vader, makes a desperate attempt of his own to draw his son, Luke Skywalker, to the Dark Side of the Force. At the end, Darth Vader gets caught in a bind. Will the Dark Side reign supreme or will Darth Vader screw the Emperor and put the control of Imperials in ruin. I say the chances weigh on option B. ;D
But first, before all this happens, the Rebel team travels to Tatooine to save Han Solo from his former dealer, Jabba the Hutt. Next, the Rebels fight the climactic civil war, with help from Ewoks.

Completes the epic...
The sequence of events is actually quite predictable: it's an old myth where the son redeems the father. It's also classic drama: the characters get themselves into a seemingly unwinnable situation, and then they overcome the odds to emerge victorious.
What makes "
Return
of the
Jedi
" classic is the imagery: the gangster Jabba the Hutt and his gang; his private jazz/funk band (Max Rebo); the evil emperor; the conflicted Darth Vader; the "best friends" C3PO and R2D2; the wise sages (Yoda and Ben Kenobi); the little warriors (Ewoks) who defeat the evil stormtroopers (at the Battle of Endor); the outlaw who captures the heart of the princess...
The
Star
Wars
movies are movies of images; some psychologists would call them "archetypes". Of course, the action and the chemistry between the characters and the love they have for one another is also what is compelling...much more so in the original trilogy than in the prequells.
As in the other restored versions, the new scenes do not subtract or add anything. The new scenes attempt to connect the original trilogy closer to the prequells, making the six more coherent. But actually, they do little, one way or the other, to effect the over-all message.
I grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy. The Jedi philosophy has made a profound impact upon me.

The Final Battle Begins
Though Mr. Lucas has given us the oppurtunity to see what happened before and after his amazing saga, this is the phenomenal end to a great story. All ends are tied up, and the finish couldn't be more perfect. The war is entering its final stages, and an age old enemy has
return
ed to haunt the galaxy. Our hero has learned the truth, and now he wishes to change his and the galaxy's future with the knowledge of it. The final battle will be intense, and the legendary prophecy we all know, might be fullfilled at last.
