How to boil an egg is on page 448
I look it up all the time.(sheepishly)
I bought this
cookbook
shortly after moving out on my own and while I was going to college. Honestly I had no idea what I wanted but my mother's brand just wasn't doing it for me.
This book is written for contemporary everyday cooking with ingredients and ideas that you just won't find in traditional(US) cookbooks. It does not neglect
basics
such as boiling an egg. Mixed in there is also enough variety in ingredients and techniques to challenge. There is usually enough information about a subject to allow you to go off on your own tangent if you want.
10 years later I have up-graded my cookware and dishes. Nonetheless, this book is falling apart at the seams as I continue to use it for my fav's as well as for
new
things too.

My favorite cookbook
I recently bought the hardcover to replace my paperback that had fallen apart after 20 years of heavy use. My favorite recipes are Rattlesnake Ribs, Baked Beans and the northwest Salmon. Enjoy...this is
basics
gone semi-gourmet.
GOOD COOKING
Everything I've made from this book has been yummy! Some recipes are time consuming.
Great for Beginners
I already own this
cookbook
and recently purchased one to give as a gift. It is a great cookbook for beginners. It has all the
basics
; from the various ways to cook an egg to cooking fresh vegetables, It even has complete meals that are easy. Definitely a great book for beginners and a great reference for experienced cooks.

Good BASIC cookbook
This book is a good
cookbook
to own, since even the best cooks can benefit from a general "BASIC" cookbook.
I love to cook and qualify myself as a "pretty good cook" with quite a bit of experience. And yet, I refer to this book often... For example, when referring to a special tool, or a special food item, etc.
PS: EXAMPLES.....1) Do you need to know how to cook a bunch of beets from your garden?...Well, this book will give you a few answers (eg: Basic Beet Soup, or Beet salad, or Beet Russian soup, etc). Or, 2) Do you have some leftover bread that you need to use-up before it molds, and you need to know how to stretch it?...Well, this book will help your problem (eg: stuffing, salads, chicken topping, etc).
