Good, good, good, good...

This psychological thriller is full of action and suspense. The plot moves quickly, and readers experience the events from various perspectives, including victim, killer and cop.

This is how books should be written, and this is what authors should aspire to be like. Kudos to Mr. Sandford - this is one of the best books I've ever read!

It'll blow you off !!!!!!! Irresistable

The "Prey" series of John Sanford just gets better. A mentally challenged guy, John Mail gets after the very doctor who treated him. He kidnaps her with her 2 daughters. What happens next tells a horrowing tale of the life of Andi with John. She is stripped, raped and assaulted by hand and fist. But, this is just the beginning.

Lucas Davenport comes into the act to get Andi and her 2 daughters. But, nobody knows the identity of this guy and he seems to be pretty intelligent. The plot gets tighter and tighter gripping you by your throat and the chase getting John by Davenport is excellent. It is not mere a cop chase but something that the mind of the killer wants.

This book is a superlative effort and a perfect entertainer. Here, Lucas finds a match to his abilities and getting John down by a plethora of cops just let you spell-bound.

Go get your copy. It's fast and furious !!!!!!!

to ' not so open minded' reviewer at Barnes and Noble

Lucas did a great job of handling scum like Mail. As for Lucas' black and white morality, I have no problems with it. At least Lucas stands for something. He gets the job done. He's a great cop. Good for him.

Its is bleeding hearts like yourself that cause the direction that America is headed into. And the defense lawyers and others that don't force people to be accountable for their actions that cause the problems in thsi country. Too much whining and complaining and griping about ebing abused as a chilkd is while someone is rapist or murderer. I say, just shoot the people like Mail. That will solve the problem.

In this latest Prey book, Lucas is racing against the clock to save a kindapped doctor, Andie Manette and her two daughters who have been stripped, humilated, and brutally assualted to satisfy the violent sexual fantasies of a former mental patient named John Mail.

To me, there were several villians here, the nasty and greedy ex husband, Tower and the psychiatrist, Wolfe, who kept from the police, two former patients who were sexual offenders. These two have betrayed Andie in the worst way possible bys etting her up to be killed and worse by Mail so they dissolve Andie's trust fund! And worse, what they did isn't considered illegal! Horrible1 and Lucas is called a little harsh? Please! The man did a great job on Wolfe, who squealed and whined about her rights being violated after she refused to let the police know about a former patient who is a sex offender. let her know what it feels like for once. Give her a taste of her own medicine.

Fans of Davenport will love this one.

"Mind Prey" is a great book for Lucas Davenport fans. It is classic with regards to our protaganist. Interestingly enough, throughout the book Lucas toys with the idea of asking Weather to marry him (he has even bought an engagement ring!). This small detail adds a slight amount of intrigue to the mindset of Lucas.

The evil villian in this book is a madman. He has traits that have reminders of previous villians (like the maddog, except this guy is really crazy). The difference between John Mail and the Maddog is that this guy has some fragment of creepy normal-ness to him. I believe that adds to the erieness of this book. This book is not a creepy as I was hoping nor was it super suspenseful.

I mention these "dissappointments" because the book was still a good read, but I would've liked some more suspense and thilling moments like some of the previous works. I do not agree with many who review this book that say this is Sandford's best work yet. In fact, I strongly disagree. There are many other Davenport books that I enjoyed much more than this one, but this one is probably top three or four.

The other reason for a three-star review and not a four- or five-star review is the fact that I was really interested in the mind games that were mentioned in the reviews and previews of this book. I was hoping for some serious mind games/mind control issues/manipulations. Surprisingly enough, the games were few and far between. The ones that did exist were dissappointingly simple, or too ridiculously complex. I was never thinking in my head, "Wow, that clever Davenport, how could he set up a trap like that." Some of the traps are awfully familiar with "Rules of Prey" as well.

In fact, this just seems to be somewhat of a rewrite of "Rules of Prey," only much dirtier.

Somebody should shoot John Mail

for waht he did to Andi Manette and her two daughters. And shoot the psychiatrist responsible and the conspirator for the pain they causes Andie and her two daughters. And all because her first husband was needing money. In his book, a former mental patient is helped to fulfill his vioelnt sexual fantasies on his former doctor, Andie Manette, by getting his conspirators,Tower and Wolfe, to set up his own ex wife so he could dissolve the trust fund and get her money so he could pay off his own bills!

Mail is the the former mental patient and he abdusts with the ex husband's knwoledge and help and possibly the psychiatrist too and violently strips and rapes repeatly Anide Manette, his former doctor.

Personally, I wish Lucas the detective would have just hauled off and shot Mail. And put the doctor, Wolfe, on trial for aiding and abetting a known sex offender.
