Maybe the funniest book I've ever read!

This book kept tears rolling down my cheeks! I was disappointed it couldn't keep going. Quite possibly the funniest I've ever read although I think that everytime I finish one of Moore's books. It made these characters seem just like every guy and I could truly imagine these things actually happening. I thought it was especially funny that he wrote the afterword to specifically remind people he didn't write the book to convert anyone's religion, just to entertain. You just can't take things too seriously.

Love this!

If you like to color outside the lines occasionally, and like wonky stories, then this is for you. I have found that it is the perfect antidote for Holiday smarminess and is full of interesting characters who you'll instantly recognize as parts of people you know & love/hate. Who can't resist a holiday story with angels and zombies!

Fun, witty and twisted!!!

I have never read anything quite like this before. I have never read one of Mr. Moore's books before. I was quite pleased. It was fun and quick. Totally twisted sense of humor, and I loved that about it. He didn't try to be PC and nice and that's what made it great.
If you have a gloomy weekend and want a fun read, read it. You won't be disappointed.

Moore is simply brilliant

Christopher Moore once again delivers in this interesting, yet clever Christmas terror tale. A man who isn't afraid to go outside the lines, Moore's ingenious use of satire keeps on coming and only makes room for the ending. Satire is one of the fading writing skills and Moore will not let it die.

Jolly Good Fun

Christopher Moore is brilliant, there is no other way to put it. His satires are funny, witty and wildy entertaining. The Stupidest Angel is a Christmas story, but it's unlike anything you've read before. As its title states, this truly is a tale of Christmas terror!

Theo is the cop in a small Californian town that is readying itself for Christmas. Everyone in town is just a little too quirky. Theo's wife is an ex B-movie actress who still believes her on-screen persona is real. Her best friend kills her husband accidentally and tries to hide the murder with the help of a stranger who's best frien is his pet bat. The town's bar owner is crazy, bordering insane. The town's scientist is just crazy enough to attach electrodes on his private parts in an attempt to try and cure his obessession with a certain woman...

When a tall hansome stranger with a shining glow surrounding his body arrives in town, everything turns sour. The man, an angel who's on earth to realise the wish of a single child, isn't the smartest angel in the sky. In fact, he's quite stupid. Misunterstanding the child's wish, the town's dead are soon brough back to life, turned into brains-hungry zombies that attack the town festivities on Christmas eve.

You think all of this is silly? It is, and it's only a part of it. The Stupidest Angel had me laughing so hard I had to put the book down. Moore has a way of taking something that we consider part of every day life to make fun of it. For example at one point, our characters are trapped in a church with all the town members. Theo asks for those of them who have a SUV to raise their hands. Everyone does. This moment comes into a scene of horror and is a great, humorous moment. Moore has a way with dialogue. Someone always has something witty and funny to say.The book even offers us moments where the dead talk with one another. Again, these scenes are hilarious.

So is this a Christmas tale? Why not. Who said that Christmas stories had to be all nice and pretty? The Stupidest Angel is a book that will become a yearly tradition for me. I can't wait to read this one again. I'm sure it'll make me laugh and entertain me as much the second time around.
