Great read for someone interested in med school

I bought this book with the hopes that it could be of some insight as to whether or not med school would be for me. After reading it, I can say that it was that and much more. Not only did I get what seems to be an acurate portrayal of what it takes to get into med school and the road to being a doctor, but also extremely practical ideas and tools to help be successful on every major step along the way. The writing was clear and concise and seemed to be geared towards an extreme usefulness for a serious med student or potential med student. I will be applying for med school and reading this book along the way to help me excel through it. I definitely recommend this book to anyone seriously considering med school or who is in med school and would like some useful pointers on how to choose your clinical rotations, pre-pare well for the USMLEs, apply for residencies, etc.

Insightful and Quite Informative

This Is the Premier Reference Book For Anyone That Has A Deep Desire To Go to Med School. Each chapter covers all the question of the whats and hows: whether it be the dos and the donts, various scholarship programs, personal perspectives - from med students, various age groups enrolling &(including single mothers and over the age...); moreover, questions that the prospective med student is reluctant to ask. MED SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL will provide the basis and the info for med school.

Great read AND Useful!

Ok, so I've been toying with the medschool idea for a good 4 years now (I graduated pre-med but never applied). I've read a lot of stuff on the subject, from books to websites to talking to faculty and students. This book is the best source I've ever seen for really getting the "big picture." While it doesn't go into great detail on any one subject, it covers so many subjects that you really feel like you have an understanding of what it takes to get into med school, make it through med school, and get into the residency of your choice. I can't recommend it enough for anyone who isn't really familiar with all of those processes, because a greater understanding of what it takes to be a doctor is a great motivator. Plus, it will help you in those med school interviews to show that you really know what's expected of you.

Med School Confidential

This book was very helpful in guiding me through the process of medical school. From deciding if I really want to be a doctor, to how to get through medical school, all the way to residency. This book provided insight into many areas involved with med school that I had not thought of previously. It is a good, easy read. I would recommend it to anyone in med school or to anyone thinking about going to med school.

Informative and family friendly

This book is great for the average medical school hopeful. It guides you through every step of the process from pre-med on. The best thing included was the chapter written by a wife of one of the students collaborated on this project. She explained what she went through as a loved one of a med student. Very valuable information. The only cons I have:
-It didn't include a lot of information for the non-traditional applicant
-Since it went through every step of the process, it wasn't very detailed
Other than that, a very good get-your-feet-wet if you're thinking of applying to med school.
