I am a huge fan of the
Sears
Book
s. This book gave me
everything
I could possible want to
know
about
birth
. It is a fantastic resource and covers EVERYTHING there is to know. Really encourages Natural Childbirth and has great examples of positions and relaxation methods.
Wonderful Book
I bought this
book
a couple weeks ago and I love it. It has so much information that every woman should
know
about. I would recommend this book to any woman who's pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Great information on choosing an OB or midwife. A definate must read.
Good preparation for labor
This
book
does a good job explaining specific techniques to help
you
through labor. The authors also seem to
have
a relatively realistic and open-minded stance on natural child
birth
- they feel it is far better to not have an epidural so that you can keep moving and change positions that will help labor and delivery. But they also ac
know
ledge that there are times when an epidural is appropriate and if that's what you do and it works for you, then that is a successful birth experience too. Some books I've read from the natural childbirth slant don't even include epidurals in their list of "pain management" techniques, and will only mention all the negative things about them. This is more well-rounded.

INDESPENSIBLE!!!!!
If
you
are even *considering* a natual child
birth
, this
book
is a MUST. It lays out the FACTS (yes, facts) about how dangerous episiotomies are-- and tells how childbirth-- natural childbirth-- can be MUCH less painful than it is made out to be. Of course, it does not say childbirth is PAIN FREE, but just that we are SOOOO radically unprepared for childbirth that our fear makes it hurt much more than it should-- and of course more than it has to. The techniques they advocate are solid.... it will make a difference in YOUR birth!
Everything I wanted to know
Great
book
! It was the first place I went back to when contractions started. The ending covers an array of
birth
stories that give
you
a truthful and in depth look at the many possibilities and situations you may find yourself in.
The only downside is that the material is a bit dated - but only things like bringing a fist full of quarters to call family from a pay phone.
