Loved " The Host"

Once again Stephenie has completely captured my heart with wonderful characters and her amazing imagination. Loved, Loved, Loved "The Host". I read it in a long weekend and had a really hard time putting it down. Then I was sorry I read it so quickly - it was over too soon! I do love it when a book leaves me thinking of the future for the characters - what are they doing now??? I will recommend it to all of my friends and I know the Twilight Saga fans will love it!!
Thanks
Christy :)

Glad I kept at it!

When I started this book, I had the entire "Twilight" series under my belt, so it came as a bit of a surprise to me that "The Host" was classified Science Fiction at my library. And I have to tell you, the first 150 pages, I just wasn't grooving along all that well.

Fortunately, I mentioned this to another reader, and she encouraged me to keep at it, that it would get a lot better.

And it really, really did.

I was going to give the book four stars based on having to work so hard to get into it, but the rest of the book redeemed itself and made it so worth reading. (I felt the same way about Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series, and after two false starts, got through to the good stuff, and it's now one of my favorite series, so there you go. I just don't like giving up on things!)

The book was creative, thought-provoking, and (once I got started) very interesting. The end was terrific, although I would have liked to see it tweaked a little in the direction of what *I* had been planning for Melanie/Wanderer -- but that, too me, shows how invested in the characters I was.

A good read, one that will leave you thinking a bit.

An Intrigueing Idea

I found this book to have a very interesting idea. This alien invasion is very unique, and for that the book is a pretty fascinating read. The only problem I had reading the book was that at times it dragged a bit for me. Usually if a book really catches me I won't be able to put it down, but there were parts where I stopped reading and simply wasn't caught up in it.

I have read the Twilight series and I must say that you can't go into this book thinking it will be the same. They are two completely separate stories with their own characters and their own dramas. Some issues are similar, but the books really shouldn't be compared.

Overall I enjoyed the book and would generally recommend it.

light entertainment

This book is an easy, light read along the same lines as "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". The characters are engaging, if shallow, and the story line is simple and easy to follow. A great book to read while waiting in the car to pick up your kids because it is easy to put down, yet fun to pick back up again later! I enjoyed it.

My daughter says "so so."

This was my daughter's book. She overlooked this one while waiting for Breaking Dawn.
