A real gem

I am recently retired and as a Christmas gift I received 1000 Places. While I have seen the book in stores I was hesitant to purchase it because of a few negative reviews posted on Amazon about how the book was geared toward high end hotels and vacation spots. There are expensive hotels listed,yes, but it is more then compensated by the many other fine moderately priced destinations. I found it to be a valuable travel reference not only for destinations suggested but also because it listed in detail prices and information enabling me to tailor my travel according to my budget. I look forward to using Ms.Schultz's book many times in the near future.

i love this book. it tells you something about EVERYWHERE. it makes for a great gift too.

Need Inspiration or new perspective?

1,000 Places to See... gives you a very broad overview of places to see, but that can be the inspiration you need to do a little more research & to get yourself moving. I haven't read it cover-to-cover, but have been going thru sections of the book in areas that I have an interest in. Also good if you are just looking for something to do in your own area -- I discovered things that I had either forgotten about or never knew were there.
