The Swiss really make a solid product

It doesn't seem to matter whether it's a pocket knife, a bag, or a clock; the Swiss really do know how to make a very solid product.

This backpack accomodated my 17" widescreen desktop replacement (which is far thicker than most laptops) with ease. However, I was extremely amazed when I could also fit my 15" widescreen notebook, complete with two brick power supplies, two mice and patch cables!

The Pegasus is extremely comfortable, with shock absorbing straps--having had over 25lbs of laptops and PSUs inside, I was expecting some loss of circulation in my arms, I was pleasantly surprised when I could still feel my fingers after 30 minutes of wear.

Good Gear

I needed a pack that would fit a Dell M-90, a pretty large 17" laptop. The options were fairly limited and I decided to try the Pegasus. It has turned out to be an excellent choice. I have taken it on several long trips. It has proven versatile, easy to carry, either wearing it as a backpack or carrying by the top handle. The pockets give easy, quick and convenient access to contents, so I use it for my tickets, passport, etc. It easily holds and provides good protection for the M90 with room left over for accessories, files, books, etc. Highly recommend if you need a bag to carry a 17" laptop.

Great backpack for 17" laptop

My Dell 17" 9300 laptop fits perfectly, high quailty construction, plenty of extra room for books, cords, ipod, water bottle etc. Highly recommend if you need a large backpack.

Good choice, if you really need a 17" laptop...

On the whole, the Pegasus is a high-quality bag;, especially if you can get it for a good price (I paid $60 for mine). If you can deal with the few downsides (see Cons below), then I highly recommend it.

Pros:
-Feels very sturdy and secure; from the top handle (thick rubber grip over plastic tube over steel cable) to the bottom (rubberized base that keeps it standing up on its own, at least most of the time), it feels well-built and able to withstand some punishment while keeping your gear safe.
-Comfortable; the padded straps are able to keep it from hurting your shoulders, despite carrying a big laptop, accessories, and a couple books.
-Looks good; while practically panel and zipper bears the Swiss cross (there's 22 of them in total), making you a bit of a walking advertisement, it still looks much more sleek and professional than most other laptop backpacks. Of course, if looks are your primary concern, a leather briefcase-style bag would probably be superior, but the Pegasus definitely gives a good compromise between utility and looks.

Cons
-Capacity: while any bag that can carry a 17" laptop pretty much by definition has a fair amount of space, the Pegasus isn't that impressive in how much it can carry. As a university student, I occasionally have to choose between carrying the laptop and being able to carry more than two books and a notebook or two. I probably wouldn't want to travel with it as a carry-on, either. If you're just looking to carry a laptop and a few other things (power brick, cables, mouse, a few thin books and notebooks or a change of clothes), it'll work great. If you need to carry more on a regular basis, something bigger will fit the bill better.
-Not all 17" laptops will fit into the inner sleeve in the laptop compartment; my Dell Inspiron 1720 will only fit if I remove the battery. While it fits in the laptop compartment, which is still pretty secure, the extra sleeve/pouch just takes up space for me.
-Side pockets don't have much room for water bottles--you definitely can't fit a Nalgene in there.

Comfortable and sturdy!

I have been using the Pegasus for my Dell E1705; a 17" widescreen. All zippers work beautifully, and the stitching is very clean. The padding makes it quite comfortable to tote this large laptop ANYWHERE! Stylistically it is very clean, and due to its color choices it does not show light dirt.

My only concern is a lack of padding where the backpack covers the top corners of the laptop (when oriented in the bag). Essentially, the compartment's zipper runs along the side and top corners.

As a backpack, in general, there is ample room to stash whatever you may need to carry. I was satisfied with my purchase.
