Our favorite for a 2-year old
We bought several books for our 2-year old daughter when we found out that we were expecting our second child. Of all the books we bought, this one is our favorite. For her age, this is the most appropriate and easiest for her to understand. It's not too detailed and wordy, and yet explains in simple terms what it will really be like when the new baby comes home. It also reinforces that she is special, and that being a
big
sister
is a special job. We also like "I Heard Said the Bird" by Polly Berrien Berends.
Great tool to prepare for new sibling
I bought this book for my niece after her new brother came home and wished I had found it before the baby was born. Great illustrations and wonderful, easy to understand text. A great tool to help a pre-schooler prepare for a new sibling.

23 month Old Loves It
We just started to read this book (and a few others on this subject) and our 23 mth old loves it. She wants to read this one and a few other baby related books a few times each day.
Short and sweet introduction to a new baby
We're expecting our second child, and this is one of my favorite books for my two year old daughter on this subject. It doesn't have a lot of detail, but it is terrific for reading over and over again and introducing the idea of the new baby. My other favorites on this topic are Lizzy Rockwell's "Hello Baby" and Joanna Cole's "The New Baby at Your House."
Good introduction to big sisterhood
We just gave this book to my two year old and we're both enjoying it. It's a good primer about her changing role from baby to
big
sister
and clearly establishes all the things baby is capable of (eat, sleep, soil diapers!) as well as the things baby is not going to be doing (playing, talking, eating pizza). I think this is incredibly important since so many people love to tell kids how they're going to have a baby 'to play with' and that's not really true for a while. Additionally, I like that the book concludes with a message of how special the big sister is in her parents eyes. The only thing I didn't like about this book was that only bottle feeding images (and none of the mother feeding the baby) were shown - no breastfeeding, which isn't indicative of the situation in our family. All in all, a good buy for new big sister, even one who's quite young herself.
