Excellent read - so much to think about!

I just finished "Change of Heart" and have to say that it's a wonderful read. I find it difficult to get into a book unless it really draws me in and keeps my attention. This book did just that. I love the way it's written jumping from character to character. I especially like the topic of the death penalty. It's such a controversial subject matter and there's so much to really think about as you read both sides of this ethical issue. Some people didn't like the reference to the main character, Shay, perhaps being something more than human but I found that feature to bring more interest to his character. I do agree with one reviewer who thought that June should have reacted more with the news but then perhaps she had been fighting to keep those thoughts buried for so long it might have been a relief to finally acknowledge them. I love the way Jodi tackles ethical issues and really gives the reader so much food for thought. My favorite book of hers is "My Sister's Keeper" but this one was excellent as well.

another home-run from Jodi

I look forward every March to a new "Jodi" book and this one doesn't disappoint. As so often, her books take you beyond the written words on the page and force you to examine a "bigger" issue - this time it is captial punishment and religion. I had a hard time putting this book down and it was a fun read from start to finish. The story stays with you for a long time - something that only a great book can do.

A book with real-world spiritual substance

I like Picoult in general, but this book particularly struck me as a valuable insight into our country's criminal justice system and reminded me that prisoners are people just as much as free folks, regardless of what horrible crime they might have committed (or appeared to have committed). The storyline is challenging and not contrived. I was thoroughly entertained while picking up little nuggets of insight as I went along. Highly recommended!

Change of Heart

Amazing read. Kept me up all night. I could not put it down. Once again Picoult captured me right from the beginning!

review

This book was so similar to Stephen King's "The Green Mile" that I am surprised she is not being sued for plagerism. It was a good book but I also liked The Green Mile.
