I Sense A Cool New Series!

Ok, I was a little torn about picking this book up from some of the reviews but it was surprisingly good. It sort of reaches out, grabs your interest, chains it up, & doesn't let you go till the last page when you want the next book now!

There was a cheesy article written about Dr. Alexandra Keller in Time that she was the fastest scalpel in the world. A plastic surgeon like her is exactly what Michael Cyprian needs. So, when he can't bribe her to work for him, he resorts to typical vampire practises and kidnaps her.

Alex, who does a lot of free be work as she was an orphaned hard luck case herself once, disdained working for Michael whom she assumed was a pampered sagging millionaire. But the guy has no face! So she gives him his sight and face back. The surgery takes a lot out of him so he helps himself to a drink of the doc...But she survives and pioneers a whole new future for the Darkyn (vamps).

With creepy characters, a pawn of Alex's priest brother, deformed Darkyn, a BIG TWIST, our sassy main & supporting characters, and a sneek peak at our next hunky/tortured hero this book is a definite read & keep!

Awesome new Horror/Fantasy Author!!

This novel reminded me of the gritty reality feel I associate with early Laurell K. Hamilton and Jacqueline Lichtenberg. A strong imperfect female lead with issues facing a dire situation. The setting was very realistic and strangely right, even considering all of the squick factors included. My only real complaint was that they had shelved this book in romance! It ISN'T a romance. It wasn't the least romantic! It was dark, disturbing, erotic, jolting, electric, heretical, and engrossing bbut NOT romantic. The story introduces a whole cast of characters and situations that undoubtedly will be explored in future novels- which I am eagerly looking forward to. Much darker than Kenyon, Drake, or any other Paranormal Romance author I've read. Left me with chills but I couldn't put the book down, even to eat supper....
I highly recommend for anyone though a high squick factor is needed.

I won't go into what the book is about since other reviewers have done that for you. I will just say that this book is an amazing find- it is unique and one that will leave you thirsting for more! Buy this book- you won't regret it!!!

Instantly Infectious!

This has got to be one of the best I have ever read! The story is so creative, and starts a fresh new twist to vampire books! The book is edgy, dark, intense and sexy. The characters are one of the best things about this book. There is a story within a story, and it leads to great avenues for new Darkyn stories. Hot sex scenes! Whew! And I think I love the main character Michael...Anyway, buy this book and only start to read it if you have a complete 24 hours to read. You won't want to stop! Enjoy! A wonderful start to a GREAT new series...

Excellent new series

I liked the overall tone and pace of the book. The characters are interesting and well-drawn and the plot has enough twists and turns. I also liked the fact that the heroine is strong and doesn't fall into the hero's arms at the first chance, early in the book. Hence their developing feelings for each other seem more real. The background story to the Darkyn is very interesting and makes you want to learn more about them. I think the series is more like the 'Dark Hunter' books by Sherrilyn Kenyon than the Carpathian series by Christine Feehan, which gets pretty tiring with the repetitive theme of domineering arrogant men and helpless women. Excellent book and highly recommended.
