Every family should own a copy
This is a classic
book
on
Greek
myths
. My 5 year old loves it as does my 10 year old. We read them as a family over and over again! Every family should have a copy in their library.
A Must Have for All Mythology Lovers!
As said in my title, you can probably see that I think highly of this
book
! It has stunning color illistrations of the gods, and
myths
about Gaea and Oronos, Aphrodite, Ares, Athena, Hephaestus, Hermes, Demeter, Hades, Dionysus, Apollo, Artemis, Hera, Posiden, and a little bit about Zeus and Hestia, and the Titan's. In all aspects, this is the best mythology book I have ever read.
P.S there are some slightly "cleaned up" version of some myths.

The Most Beautiful Greek Myth Book
I learned
Greek
myths
from this
book
as a child. I continued to use this book through college. This book is a great gift for friends with small children. The drawings are lovely and evocative. The D'
Aulaires
really bring Greek myths to life with the simple telling of the stories and the beautiful drawings.
An excellent book to read aloud for youngsters!
I don't think I can add anything else to the positive reviews this
book
has already received, other than to say that it is easily read aloud and divided into short chapters, perfect for bedtime stories. The same can be said about any of the D'aulaire's books.

Infomrative but dull.
We bought this
book
as a resource for a young adult novel which makes frequent references to
greek
myths
, gods and goddesses. The good news is that it's comprehensive; whenever we turned to it, it always had the information we were seeking. But the stories are all told with dry monotony. We learn who was married to whom, their parentage and progeny but it all leaves you with the kind of enthusiasm you might feel while leafing through the yellow pages. These are BIG stories about big themes - stories that have been with us for centuries. Surely they can be conveyed with a little more verve.
