Incredibly Funny Book
Okay, this is like the second Moore book I read and it was just so funny. I lived in northern CA for like 12 years and the general parody of small town life is spot on, though I only visited such towns around the holidays as a tourist.
The characters are wonderfully written and did anone else think it wasa sort of anti-gift of th Magi sub plot with the constable and his wife getting each other presents, her by saving money going off her anti-psychotic meds, he by growing all the pot.
The whole premise is a hoot. The stupid
angel
comming down to grant one child a wish that can only be granted by divine intervention, and creating havoc.

Moore Better Best......
this man makes my literary day.....this book ranks right up there with Bloodsucking Fiends, Lamb, and Dirty Job....i love his characters, i love the outrageous situations he puts them in.....i love the scope of what he does....

Funniest Book I've Read ...
In a long time! I wish I had discovered Moore last
Christmas
when well, it was the Christmas from down below! I could have used his humor then!! From the first chapter, I was in stitches, giggling like mad woman! He is statire at its best!
This book focuses on a range of characters ~~ which presumedly is from his other books (which I have yet to read) ~~ and a little boy who saw Santa Claus being killed by a shovel. Horrible as that was, nothing prepared him or any of the Pine Grove residents for the real horror yet to come as an
angel
brought the little boy's wish to life ~~ bringing Santa back from the dead. One problem though, he also brought back to life forty or so residents of the chapel's grave yard. Talk about the Zombies crashing a Christmas party, wanting to eat everyone's brains! The angel is definitely one of the
stupidest
angels there is in heaven!! He manages to bungle even the most simplest of tasks ~~ to grant a child's wish this Christmas.
The book has some gruesome parts in it, which normally freaks me out, but not this time. It was just too hilarious. Talk about getting into the Christmas cheer only to have a zombie trying to eat your brains. Hilarious! It's perfect medicine for those who hate the commericalized version of Christmas. It's perfect medicine for those who despair of being real in today's world. It's just a naughty and fun book ~~ poking fun at everyone's inclination when it comes to the most looked upon and feared holiday. It's also hilarious in the sense of instead of Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, someone hits him over the head with a shovel. Macabre? Yes. But how fun it is for a change to read something that is not so sweet and sentimental (which, I am also a fan of too, by the way!).
So if you're a Christopher Moore fan and haven't read this one yet, then what are you waiting for? If you haven't heard of him, then I suggest you better get a move on. This book can save your mind through one of the most stressful holidays in the year ~~ even if you are a devoted Christmas fan (I am one) ~~ this book will help you keep Christmas in its proper perspective ~~ that it can be fun and not worth stressing over!

More Pine Cove, Please!
I've just finished reading Chris Moore's hilarious third installment of the adventures of Pine Cove - Practical Demonkeeping, Lust Lizard & The
Stupidest
Angel
. I can't decide which of them I enjoyed more, but this one builds to a comic climax of dizzying heights. Quite simply, I loved it. Highly recommended!
The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror
