Fun
Some
book
s are just fun to have, to leaf through from time to time. This is one of them. It contains all sorts of diverse information, some I already knew, some I didn't. I suspect that dozens more books could be assembled without repeating anything or being less interesting. In my youth I had Vol. 1 of "The Boy Mechanic," which was much like the subject here. I doubt that many
boys
completed the projects outlined in either book, but that's beside the point.
What I don't quite understand is "
Dangerous
" in the title--and come to think of it, "Boys." I suspect that a good many girls will also find the book interesting and not remotely dangerous. And some of the boys and girls will be well past voting age.
Get this book and keep it handy. You'll find it fun to have.

A condensed British grammar school education and lots of fun.
As a British ex-pat living in the US, with a 2nd grade boy, I fell in love with this
book
when I first saw the US edition, but I waited to buy it until a recent trip to the UK so that I could get the original version. At first I visited the fun stuff: conkers; paper aeroplanes, water bombs, girls etc., but as I read more I realized that this book is a condensation of the complete British grammar school experience, and that explains the huge nostalgia factor. For me it has already become a reference text -- where else will I find a list of the Kings of England, the rules of cricket, or a family tree for the House of Windsor. My only complaint is that in the section on required reading, there is no mention of the Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome.
It is a wonderful book to hold and browse, and I may let my kid read it occasionally.

Funny AND Handy!
This is such a cute
book
, and it's full of all sorts of interesting information. Although there is a girl's version of this book, I think girls and women would enjoy this one very much too.
