Vegan AND sinfully delicious

When people think about vegan desserts, they think that they are going to get hoodwinked into eating healthily. Well, folks, Ms. Patrick-Goudreau has completely debunked any myths regarding vegan desserts. Love chocolate? Me too. It's here. Love a good cookie like me? Your soymilk will no longer be lonely. How about savory? Cornbread? Olive bread? Seriously, people. You can't go wrong. There is a wide range of recipes that will make you a successful baker--even if you are short on time.

What I also really appreciate is that is a really well written and organized cookbook. (Can you say multiple indexes? I'm a geek I know, but who doesn't love an index when you are pressed for time?) The recipes are clear. There is an abundance of information and helpful suggestions yet it does not feel overwhelming. Anytime you open up this book, you are invited to discover something new about the tantalizing world of vegan desserts. What in the world could be wrong with that?

So, now, go forth and bake vegan. Wow your family, friends, coworkers. The proof is in the pudding--of which there are a few recipes in this book, I might add! Anyway, I dare anyone to take a bite into any one of these desserts and tell me it tastes like wheatgrass because it is not laden with cholesterol. No way. No how. These recipes are utterly delectable in every way a dessert should be.

I know that I will enjoy this book for years to come.

A Vegan Baker's Dream Come True!

I can't really say much more about this incredible book that hasn't already been said. It is a beautifully done, wonderfully comprehensive guide to baking. While it is geared toward those who eschew animal ingredients, it is a valuable resource for anyone who bakes (and after reading the practical tips and informative inserts, more and more bakers will turn to this method of turning out delectable treats). The author graciously shares quite a lot of her knowledge, not only on veganism and animal rights, but also on baking techniques and tricks that will leave the reader wondering how they ever baked without this book! The Joy of Vegan Baking really takes the mystery out of animal free baking, and certainly makes it less intimidating for novice and adept bakers alike. You will probably find yourself looking for excuses and occasions to make all of the exquisite recipes provided in this book. Or you can always make some up! Have fun and enjoy!!

Super ideas to fit into a nonveggie world without missing a thing! Non veggies eat them and LOVE the recipes!

Excellent!

I am already familiar with Colleen's work through her podcast so this was a no brainer for me. That said, I recently brought a soda bread, chocolate chip cookies, macaroons, and chocolate almond crunch from this book to an omnivore Thanksgiving and left with empty hands! I, the resident vegan, am now the dessert queen.
My husband helped me out with the baking and liked how easy and clear the directions were in comparison with other cookbooks. I highly recommend!

The best of vegan baking...

The joy of vegan baking is a perfect baking book. How I wish it had been out when I first became vegan and was left sorting through some good, and mostly terrible recipes for baked goods. I love how this book is broken apart and includes savory as well as sweet breads. The biscuits are the best vegan biscuits ever (I have tried 5 other recipes that don't even come close to these). My omni family enjoyed the chocolate almond brittle and apple crumble at Thanksgiving. Everything I have tried has been a success. As other reviewers have mentioned this book is beautiful. A great gift for anyone interested in baking (vegan or not).
