Where Have All the Leaders Gone?

Lee Iacocca is a tell-it-like-he-sees-it author (he had a co-writer on this book, but the tone is all him). In "Where Have All the Leaders Gone?" he talks about where he thinks American business has sold-out on taking leadership (as well as comments on individual responsibility, and how the incidence of lawsuits is influencing the business climate). He does talk about the current White House occupant and how some policies have been bad for the country, but that's a small part of the book. He's mostly saying how he thinks there aren't leaders willing to take the kinds of risks business-leaders were willing to take in the past, and compares how other countries have much more risk-friendly cultures, and how those countries are beginning to surpass the US.

He's basically saying "take responsibility for your own actions, take calculated risks, and here's examples of how we're not!" I wish I could give a copy to everyone in the US and encourage them to read it; not everyone would agree with everything (or even much) of what he's saying, but it could get people thinking about worthwhile topics, perspectives, and more aware of how the course American business and culture is on can have some dramatic consequences.

Where Have All The Leaders Gone

This is an interesting book with much to say about the lack of sufficient current leadership for the Country. It asks many hard questions but doesn't ask enough about the Congress and it's poor performance.
