S'Wonderful
Love it! I had heard of Josh Bell but never had purchased any of his music. I am a full fan now. This cd is wonderful. I am a Gershwin fan and have been for years. Bell breathes new life into the old classics and the result is breathtaking. His touch with the ...

Yo-Yo CD
My nephew mentioned his desire to hear some classical music (Yo-Yo Ma, especially) on the boring trips back & forth from college. He really seemed to enjoy receiving the CD for Christmas!

There Aren't Enough Stars...
Of the thousands of albums/cds I have purchased in my lifetime -- were I to have to pick only one to keep -- this would be it. The mark of the collection is an exquisite sensibility and technical excellence. In several of the pieces, you can feel as if your soul, ...

The Finest Recordings of These Four Selections
George Gershwin (1898-1937) first made a name for himself as the composer of one memorable popular song after another--songs that have proven remarkably durable and have entered our collective consciousness to become "great standards" by which others are judged. In ...

Gershwin's masterpiece receives a performance worthy of it.
"Porgy & Bess" is George Gershwin's masterpiece and one of the 10 greatest operas ever written (see my list on Amazon). For a long time (and even now ... Leonard Maltin's review, e.g.) condescendingly called a "folk opera" (translation: "the Met won't do it"). ...

One of the best ever!
Do I mean the best album or the best singer? You are correct if you said both! I saw Kristin Chenoweth on a PBS show "Broadway's Best at the Pops," (though it was not the first time I had heard her) and decided to check out the offerings here. This is a collection ...

Gershwin; Rhapsody in Blue/American in Paris
This CD was everthing I expeced. It contained the entire (16.26 minute) version of Rhapsody in Blue and brings back some wonderful memories from my high school days and music appreciation classes.

A Good One!
This is a very good CD, mostly because it's the original artists. I've had some that were re-recorded by no name artists that were ghastly. This one is a really good one--including the sound quality. If I had one wish, I would wish it were longer!

A Departure from Previous CDs...
Given its departure from previous releases...it took the second time to really sink in, and it is excellent. It's the kind of compilation you want to listen to from beginning to end, uninterrupted. Presumably, the Five Browns are experimenting with their success, so ...

Gershwin on the Money!
Perlude #2 of Gershwin's "Three Preludes" is my all time favorite piece of music, and this wonderful cd presents it in a warm and loving way, as I think George Gershwin would have.

Simply great
The fusion between the great two voices and the orchestra is just brilliant. Very good brass and violins that accompany Fitzeralds and Armstrongs magic voices leaves you with your mouth open. A must have for everyone!

Very Informative and Enjoyable
Whether you're a music novice or pro, "The instruments of the Orchestra" is a very worthwhile purchase. The 7 CDs, with a total of 8 hours, are expertly narrated by Jeremy Siepmann. He's a great speaker, very much like the late Leonard Bernstein was. Mr. Siepmann takes ...
