Illustrated Guide to Home Chemistry Experiments: All Lab, No Lecture (DIY Science)
Robert Thompson
Make Books, 2008
More than funny smells, an invaluable must have book.
Many other reviewers have made comments about the demise of home chemistry sets and their youthful experiences. I echo many of the same thoughts. Without going in to the details suffice to say that I loved my chemistry set and still relish those youthful memories. I ...

Google Apps Hacks
Philipp Lenssen
Make Books, 2008
Great intro to many different Google applications
While this book wasn't chock full of the kind of insider information that you usually get from a "hacks" book, it did offer a lot of good information that I haven't seen altogether in one place. Unless you've been living under a rock, you're probably aware of all the ...
Making Things Talk: Practical Methods for Connecting Physical Objects
Tom Igoe
Make Books, 2007
Great book of projects involving communications and networking
When I first heard about this book, I assumed it was about projects for speech synthesis. When I read the details on the publisher's site I was somewhat disappointed - talking meant communications in this case. However, I ordered it anyway and was quite delighted by ...
Maker's Notebook
The Staff MAKE Magazine
Make Books, 2008
A very cool and classy way to record your observations and learnings...
Ok... this might be the most unusual book review I've ever done. I'm about to review a book consisting of... blank pages. Ah, but what blank pages they are! :) It's the Maker's Notebook by O'Reilly Publishing and the staff at MAKE magazine. I was given this as a ...

Eccentric Cubicle (Make: Projects)
Kaden Harris
Make Books, 2007
Eccentric Cubicle is entertaining, interesting and fun too...
Kaden Harris is an amazingly intelligent "character". Let me start of by saying his book is great and even though I was offered a free copy I went out and bought one anyway. It is worth the money and a great read. Kaden and I went to an elementary school, with the ...
MAKE: Technology on Your Time Volume 13: Technology on Your Time (Make: Technology on Your Time)
Mark Frauenfelder
Make Books, 2008
Great Magazine!
This is a really nice magazine for anyone who loves tinkering with electronics. We are trying to find the old issues we have missed and Amazon is definitely the right place for that. The mags are pretty expensive for the subscription but are really resonable here.
MAKE: Technology on Your Time Volume 12: technology on your time (Make: Technology on Your Time)
Mark Frauenfelder
Make Books, 2007
Mmmm Makey Goodness
This is the twelfth magazine of this series, and it just keeps getting better. Magazine is a deceptive title, as this issue runs to 192 pages. More like a book! There are projects galore within, such as how to make a 20 watt solar panel from smaller solar cells, how ...

Excellent, as have been all of the Make issues I have read. A terrific way to get your creative juices flowing. Make can satisfy your need to build and tinker for a while, in the reading of it, but ultimately sends you straight to the workshop, full of ideas.
