Stunning photos, with stories to match
The photos grab you at first, but it's the words that will make you treasure this must-have hardback. Author Annie Griffiths Belt was one of the first female photographers hired at the National Geographic Society, and in these pages you can understand why. The 133 ...

Charles C. Mann
Sierra Club Books
, 1995
Beautiful book!
This book is a fascinating look at materialism, or the lack of it, around the world. Oddly enough, the American family was not the most obviously materialistic; there was a Saudi family with a 42 foot long couch! I have put this gorgeously photographed book in my ...

Daring to Look: Dorothea Lange's Photographs and Reports from the Field
Anne Whiston Spirn
University Of Chicago Press
, 2008
Near the end of her career, Dorothea Lange lamented, “No country has ever closely scrutinized itself visually. . . . I know what we could make of it if people only thought we could dare look at ourselves.” Lange, however, did look, unflinchingly turning her lens on the despair, degradation, and greed unleashed by the Great Depression, ...
A Time it Was: Bobby Kennedy in the Sixties
Bill Eppridge
Abrams

Truly wonderful!
If there ever was a time our country needs to look back in history for help, it certainly is now. This book captures that time. Great insight from a photographer seldom seen today in a presidential campaign. It will make you smile, it will make you cry.

Nat. Geo. Greatest Pix Review
I fancy myself to know a good photo when I see one and I was humbled by the really great photos in this book. I suppose it all depends on what you like, but since these are the pix they chose to include and I think they are great, either they or I agree with each ...

Wierd, wonderful America
In a sporting goods store I watched as a man and his schoolage daughter examined all sorts of little black knives, before he reluctantly put the last knife down and told her, "Come on, we're gonna go look at guns." "Guns! Guns!" she sang happily as she skipped off ...

Terrific book.
As a photographer, I loved this book. As good as the photographs are, the writing is even better. Great stories about working as a Time photographer in the Mid East, growing up in Europe during WWII, and wonderful vignettes about Israeli leaders. Highly recommended.

Magic Lantern Guide for Canon EOS-1D Mark III
Excellent, though brief, guide to this very powerful camera's many controls and functions. It goes much deeper into each of the zillion buttons, switches, and screens than the manual ever could, and the writer even discusses actual uses for each of them. Although ...
