The Real James Herriot: A Memoir of My Father James Wight

The Real James Herriot The book arrived in a timely manner in excellent condition. I am enjoying reading about the life of this gifted, gentle and compassionate man and his family and the descriptions of the countryside and the people of Yorkshire/Glasgow and that area. A good read to help ...

All Things Bright and Beautiful James Herriot
St. Martin's Paperbacks, 1998
Delightful and charming... All Things Bright and Beautiful by James Herriot is a true classic and I can see why it has been such a big seller through many decades. Sadly, I missed seeing his books when they were made into a television series. This autobiographical work is charming and ...

James Herriot's Cat Stories James Herriot
St. Martin's Press, 1994
One extraordinary read... James Herriot writes of his veterinary experiences as no one else could. Full of humor, sometimes sadness but always spellbinding and interesting. I could not put this book down.

It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet James Herriot
Pan Macmillan, 2006
It Shouldn't happen to a vet It was the first James Herriot book I read, and I think the best. It was funny at times and serious at others. It introduced me to a English Countryside vet's life. Sqeamish people might want to skip over parts. (He is a vet!) But over all, I really think this book is ...

All Creatures Great and Small James Herriot
St. Martin's Griffin, 2004
Everything "Great" (and sometimes small) If you ever wanted to be a vet... "All Creatures Great and Small" will either inspire, or send you running off to be a lawyer. Heartwarming, funny, sad and highly educational, James Herriot's debut biography (he wrote five in all) give readers the whole messy, glorious ...

James Herriot's Treasury for Children: Warm and Joyful Tales by the Author of All Creatures Great and Small James Herriot
St. Martin's Press, 1992
A Gorgeous Book This is a great example of a living book. The stories transport the listener to another place, and the journey is a pleasure. My 5 and 8 year old daughters love these stories and their illustrations.

All Things Wise and Wonderful James Herriot
St. Martin's Paperbacks, 1998
Definitely a classic The third book in the series and you know exactly what to expect. Yes, folks, it is every bit as entertaining as the first two, and that's probably all you need to know. But I'll go ahead and mention that he spends some time in the RAF during World War II, which we ...

Let Sleeping Vets Lie James Herriot
Pan Macmillan, 2006
Caution: This book could cause death by laughter... Another classic by Herriot, a must for fans. Although dated, Herriots humour is timeless. His vivid imagery pulls the reader into the Yorkshire of the early 70's. His descriptive powers give this book vibrancy. Essentially a diary of a vets life. His triumphs ...

Every Living Thing James Herriot
St. Martin's Griffin, 2005
Reading to feel good. I have just finished this book after having read the other books in the series many years ago. The magic is still there. I would not ordinarily be attracted to a book of animal stories but the animals in Dr. Herriot's practice are a stage for something more. The ...

RAF training proves tough for Jamesbut you cant keep a good vet down. A few months of married bliss, a lovers nest in Darrowby and the wonders of home cooking are rudely interrupted for James Herriot by the Second World War. James Herriots fifth volume of memoirs relocates him to a training camp somewhere in England. In between square pounding and ...

The Lord God Made Them All James Herriot
Macmillan Audio, 2005
Reviewing The Lord God Made Them All I ordered the audio version, which I really enjoyed listening to, especially with British (Yorkshire) accent of the actor. I have always enjoyed the James Herriot books, except for his free use of profanity.
Otherwise, it was very enjoyable listening.

James Herriot's Yorkshire: A Guided Tour With the Beloved Veterinarian Through the Land of All Creatures ... James Herriot
St. Martin's Griffin, 1981
Probably terrific in hardcover I put five stars here because I'm sure the hardcover edition rates it. I thought I was ordering hardcover, but got a very cheap paperback instead. This is a book that NEEDS big pages and color pictures; forget about the paperback edition. I tossed it.
