Nice thin paperback
I bought this product for two high school aged relatives. The maps are excellent and the information is clearly presented. For the cost, I thought it was an excellent value. Be aware that this is not a very thick volume and as it is paperback, I'm a little concerned ...
Palgrave Concise Historical Atlas of Central Asia
Rafis Abazov
Palgrave Macmillan
, 2008
best of the central asian atlases for the money
This is a nice atlas with useful information, even though it is not full color. Simply put, there are no competing atlases about Central Asia costing less than $150, so this is your only option if you're interested in the area.

Maps and brief overview that are easy to understand
If you're looking for maps of how the Balkan borders have been drawn and redrawn between 600-1999 AD, plus a brief textual overview on the facing page, this is the book for you. Several earlier maps also show the general dispersion of the various cultures that ...

Great for research
I bought this atlas because I wanted one as up-to-date as possible (in light of political boundaries and such), and wanted something to accompany a globe I have. There is a lot of useful information at the front of the atlas, so it's not just a book of maps. I use it ...
Netter's Concise Atlas of Orthopaedic Anatomy (Netter Basic Science)
Jon C. Thompson
Saunders
, 2001
Great for Physical therapists
This is a great, small book that can be used for quick reference when working with orthopedic patients. The pictures are small but it is not meant as a true anatomical atlas. It includes some nice x-rays, plenty of common pathological conditions and a few quick tests.
Hammond Concise Atlas of World History
Hammond World Atlas Corporation
, 2001
Best of the paperback, modestly sized atlases.
Well, that says it. If you don't want to go the massive, hardcover route of a slightly dated (1993), but superior Times Atlas of World History, then this is the one to get. Barraclough edits both.
Concise Atlas of World History
Oxford University Press, USA
, 2002
Utterly fascinating
For a remarkable overview of the history of the world so far - it is difficult to imagine this book being bettered. It is endlessly fascinating, and covers every part of the world and all major cultures. To have such an insight into the inter-relationship of nations ...

Best one
I have checked around and if you want detail, DK is the best I could find. Concise has a few less pages but the maps appeared the same, perhaps just less filler

Oxford New Concise World Atlas
VERY USEFUL, TALK TO SEVERAL PEOPLE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES, CAAN SEE AREA THEY LIVE IN.
The Times Atlas of World History (Hammond Concise Atlas of World History)
Hammond World Atlas Corp
, 1993
The fifth edition has a different title
Note that the latest (1999, 5th) edition is called the "Hammond Atlas of World History," and is available at Amazon.com. There is no mention of "Time" anymore, causing possible confusion. It is superb.

HarperCollins Concise Atlas of The Bible
James B. Pritchard
HarperOne
, 1997
detailled atlas
this atlas covers many topics, eras, places, etc. not covered in usual Bible atlas. Some parts are liberal, with some displaced and unsound attacks on inerrancy. Yet it is a good tool. An even more detailled atlas would be the Time Atlas. A less detailled atlas, but ...
