The Lady Elizabeth: A Novel Alison Weir
Ballantine Books, 2008
So far so Good I am in the middle of this book and I cannot put it down. I have a small problem, though. On page 9, she writes " Her big, magnificant father, King Harry the Eighth..." I thought her father was King Henry the Eighth and not Harry. I am surprised no one has caught this.

The Boleyn Inheritance (Boleyn) Philippa Gregory
Touchstone Books, 2007
Trying times for women This book definetly demonstrates the trials and tribulations that woman in medieval England had to face. This book basically picks up where The Other Boleyn Girl left off, with the exception of pretty much skipping Henry's marriage to Jane Seymour. My only complaint ...

The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn Eric Ives
Wiley-Blackwell, 2005
Indispensable Anne Boleyn was undoubtedly one history's most fascinating woman. She was not conventionally beautiful, she had a sharp-tongued, acidic personality, and she engendered both obsessive love and implacable hatred in the people around her. She also was caught in the middle ...

The Constant Princess (Boleyn) Philippa Gregory
Touchstone, 2006
Great into a character lost in history The Constant Princess explored from childhood Katherine of Aragon's life. Most of us I think just know her as the queen Henry VIII first put aside trying to get a legitimate male heir to his throne. But I had no idea the history she went through from her parents to the ...

The Children of Henry VIII Alison Weir
Ballantine Books, 1997
Better than I thought! From the moment I picked up this book, I got glued. I have never read anything about Henry or his children in the past. I had been wanting to read about Elizabeth but it took awhile for me to find the right book. I read many reviews on the books written about her and ...

The Virgin's Lover (Boleyn) Philippa Gregory
Touchstone, 2005
Great Read! I have read several of Philippa Gregory's books and this is one of my favorites (the first one being The Other Boleyn Girl). It continues with the same themes of love and greed that appears in the other books but they are presented from the perspective of a man. ...

Obsessive Love This historical novel tells the tale of Anne Boleyn's rise and fall as well of that of silly Catherine Howard from the point of view of the woman responsible for both of their deaths: Lady Jane Rochford, Anne Boleyn's sister-in-law. It is her obsessive love for ...

Henry VIII: The King and His Court Alison Weir
Ballantine Books, 2002
Estimable essay on the era of Henry VIII In one sense, I am at a disadvantage in assessing this volume. I am not an historian of this era, so I cannot confidently judge well the accuracy of Alison Weir's rendering of events and people. I have, of course, read other works dealing with this period, and I'm not ...

The Wives of Henry VIII Antonia Fraser
Vintage, 1993
Of all the books on Henry VIII's wives, this is the best A few years ago David Starkey wrote a book on Henry VIII's three wives which received much publicity. It was even turned into a PBS documentary. I read that book and while I found some of his research compelling, his arrogant style and dubious conclusions irritated me. ...

Devil Water Anya Seton

Another great Seton novel.. Anya Seton's books never fail to impress me. She weaves stories that are intricate and beautifully written. Also, the research she has done to produce these novels is astonishing. This book is perhaps one of her best.
