Duma Key: A Novel Stephen King
Scribner, 2008
The KING is back.... Mr King, you are back..... I think this is one of SK's best books in the years to come since Bag of Bones. I could not get used to reading his later stuff - the Dark Tower series ...until Duma Key came along. The minute I started it, I couldn't stop. A wonderful read.

The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower (King, Stephen) Stephen King
Donald M. Grant/Scribner, 2004
Absolutely amazing! I was at the hair salon a few years ago when my friend shoved "Wolves of the Calla" into my hands and told me I had to read it, while I waited for my turn to get my hair done. Even though it was in the middle of the series (or close to the end, if we're honest) I was ...

The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah (King, Stephen) Stephen King
Donald M. Grant/Scribner, 2004
This book tells us about other worlds than these Begging your indulgence for a moment here at the beginning of this review, There are a few philosophical asides that I would like to bore you to tears with, enjoy.
There is an odd thing that happens in epics. I speak mostlh of Western epics here, I haven't really ...

On Writing Stephen King
Pocket, 2002
The only Stephen King Book I have read... I personally do not write fiction and have no desire to write fiction. I do write technical articles and I have a strong desire for them to be well written and interesting. This was a valuable and enjoyable read even though I have never read a Stephen King novel. I ...

Wastelands: Stories of the Apocalypse Stephen King, Cory Doctorow, ...
Night Shade Books, 2008
The End of the World as You Know It This is one of those themed compendiums in which the editor is trying a little too hard to take credit for collecting a previously unappreciated sub-genre. You see that a lot in speculative fiction. But regardless of the stretches John Joseph Adams makes in proclaiming ...

Wolves of the Calla (The Dark Tower, Book 5) Stephen King
Pocket, 2006
Roland continues onward to the Dark Tower I am not going to go into a rendition, I see this has already been done. This is the 5th book in the Dark Tower series and continues to follow Roland and his posse on their quest for the Dark Tower. I enjoyed this book. I thought the way Stephen King innertwined ...

The Stand: Expanded Edition: For the First Time Complete and Uncut (Signet) Stephen King
Signet, 1991
An Ageless Story This is a long one, 1141 pages; it was so thick I cut it in half at Chaper 48 so it was easier to handle. It was a used paperback; so no harm done. I never tired of this reading though, since it is an ageless story of good vs. evil. It is slower in the first half with ...

Blaze: A Novel Richard Bachman
Pocket, 2008
Homage to Mr. King and Blaze The other evening I was meeting a friend for dinner when a huge beautiful mastiff walked by me in the streets of New York. Having just read Blaze, I thought "this would be a wonderful companion for him". Alas, Mr. King is too clever for me and has eliminated this ...

Lisey's Story: A Novel Stephen King
Pocket, 2007
A personal, vivid allegory of good and evil Sorry to disagree with all the critics. This is my favorite single Stephen King novel, though in some parts of the Dark Tower series his imagination shines as brilliantly. The book seems to get off to a slow start, but I later appreciated the meandering pace as a way ...

It (Signet Books) Stephen King
Signet, 1987
Chilling I would consider myself a pretty big fan of Stephen King's work, and I can confidently say that this book basically defines the horror genre. I guess a good (although somewhat unfair) way to gauge the genius of this story is to compare it to "The Stand" (my personal ...

The Best American Short Stories 2007 (The Best American Series (TM))
Houghton Mifflin, 2007
Worth it for the King essay alone... I'm a HUGE Stephen King fan. Always have been, always will be. I am also a fan of The Best American series. So, when I discovered that King was the editor of this year's Best American Short Stories, I was duly excited. (Of course, I had to remind myself that he ...
