Enjoyable book
I enjoy Max Allan Collins' CSI books and his historical mysteries. The first book in this new series was also great. Even though I have only seen a few of the Criminal Minds episodes, I still enjoyed the book very much. It had an interesting storyline and great ...

Great Book
This novelization of the new film The X-FIles: I Want To Believe is an excellent companion piece to the movie now in theaters for a price that's less than a movie ticket. The novel follows the story of the film closely, with a few additional interesting scenes and ...

The First Quarry (Hard Case Crime)
Max Allan Collins

Hard Crime Case, 2008

"I liked surviving. It was about all I valued."
Late last year, I discovered the publisher, HARD CASE CRIME, and I rapidly became addicted to their books--a mix of long lost classic pulp novels mixed in with some new titles. Early this year, I decided to take the plunge and joined the Hard Case Crime Book Club. ...

The Mike Hammer Collection Volume 1
Mickey Spillane

NAL Trade, 2001

"It Was Easy." (No, it only looks that way)
Back in the day when I was teaching university literature courses, I would annually shock some English department colleagues by suggesting to students that Raymond Chandler was a better writer than F. Scott Fitzgerald. I smile to think of their reactions today if I ...

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Mortal Wounds (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation)
Max Allan Collins

Pocket, 2007

I missed it...
If you own all of the paperback CSI's from Max Collins, you don't need this one... It's a three story in one. If you don't have the paperbacks, then this is a great book!

Bones: Buried Deep (Bones)
Max Allan Collins

Pocket Star, 2006

Good book that is fun to read.
This is an incredibly interesting book. It follows the tv series well, which is not always so easy with books of this sort. It is no great work of fiction and will never win any awards, but it will be a fun, easy book to read on a plane or when you need to give ...

Men's Adventure Magazines: In Postwar America
Rich Oberg, Max Allan Collins, ...

Taschen, 2008

Like all Taschen books, a beauty
This book was a trip down memory lane for me; I got a kick out those lurid men's-magazine covers in my youth, and today I get... well, a surge of nostalgia, if no longer quite the same charge. The volume is beautifully produced, like all Taschen books, though I have ...

The Road to Perdition
Max Allan Collins

Pocket, 2007

You must choose a road for yourself.
This is a great black and white "noir" graphic novel. There was a movie based on it, which you may have seen. The book is better, in my opinion. It is masterfully written, and the art is great. It's almost 300 pages long, but it just flies by. Highly recommended.
