Great back story for the Dark Tower series
This was a really good book and added to the over all story of the Dark Tower story line. The illustration was great and made the story come to life. The only draw back is if you have not read the Dark Tower series you may feel as if you were left hanging.

Well balanced presentation, beautiful pictures
I am a conservative Christian looking for the right history book to homeschool my kids. I read this DK Children's Encyclopedia from beginning to end, and I find it acceptable over all in content presentation. Another reviewer here says the book is too liberal, but I ...

This book brings the Pioneer life into *our* lives.
PIONEER DAYS is a wonderful hands-on approach to teaching our children the pioneer lifestyle. The book follows a ficticious family thru the year 1843 and allows you to learn with your children what life on the homestead was like, including crafts, recipes, games and ...

excellent primer for global warming..
to really understand the problem, and to really understand how one can make a difference and to really understand the forces at work that will prevent any solution this is an excellent primer. It reads in laymen terms so you don't get all boondoggled by the science. It ...
Virginia Plantation Homes
David King Gleason
Louisiana State University Press

Trememdous book by a tremendous photographer
In my opinion this coffee table book is the one by which all others should be judged. Gleason is one fine professional photographer who needs to expand into yet more regions on this same subject of old plantation homes

Story of a true good American
Since 1971, I have been a fan of Joan Baez, whose anti-war songs I liked, and still like. At the same time, I had a friend who was a fan of Bob Dylan. Often, when I visited my friend, we would first play Joan Baez and then Bob Dylan. (Unfortunately, my friend died in ...

Criers of Vive La Roi...Doers of nothing
Author David King has written a new book about a subject often dismissed as little more than the antecedent to Napoleon's 100 days campaign. Most books written on this topic were written years ago and with a predictable bent. Mr. King's book is both an objective and ...

This is a cute book on 'Nessie'
I have to say the advertisements for the movie of The Water Horse prompted me to look to the book it was based on and what a cutie of a book it is - Set in 1930's Scotland, after a huge storm a family goes to the shore to see what has washed up - and they found ...

Multitudinous tome for the horror and preternatural aficionado

The Commissar Vanishes: The Falsification of Photographs and Art in Stalin's Russia

A rare gem
A true gem of a book, dealing with a subject that is much overlooked. As the inspiration for Orwell's 1984 revising history, it is a chilling look at early Soviet attempts to rewrite history by erasing people from photos. Watching a photo of 5 men dwindle down to a ...

My favorite King Book
Ok, so I am a huge Stephen King fan, and I do like most of his books, but there are a few I absolutely loathe. When I first read this book, I had no idea what to expect, and I ended up getting hooked to the story, and read it all the way through in one sitting, which ...
