Reminds me of STEN.
The first two books in this series were quasi-military books, while not real indepth, were pretty good. This one goes into the spy game, and reminds me of the middle Sten books. Not quite as fragmented as the second book of this series, and a good read. I enjoyed it.

As exciting as a last battle can be
As I liked the previous installations of this series I like this one. It feels both exciting and realistic to me, which is rare. It has a different tone than the previous books because the machinery of war and politics isn't there (much). There is none of the sense of ...

A Unique, Atypical Fantasy/Military Book
I am an avid military history and fantasy reader. Often the two genres don't mix, so I was pleasantly surprised when I read the series. It is doesn't follow the typical prosaic path of the average fantasy and it is able to suspend reality a bit more than the typical ...

A fitting second book in this series.
The two con men from the first book are back in the second, and are now in charge. The book continues where the first left off. If you are a fan of the "Sten" series, then this series, at least from the military standpoint continues in that direction. I would have ...

Double, Triple, Quadruple, Anyone?
Chris Bunch has always written books that blend action and intrique with complicated political situations. In that, this third book of the Star Risk series is no different. Every word is worth it though! M'chel Riss, partner of Star Risk, Ltd wants to hire her ...

Irresistable.....
Unwilling to summarize the plot or critique the story, I hope to share with you the visceral joy of this book: -Applying the discipline of not reading the last 1/3 of the book normally and spreading that portion of the book over 1 month to make it last longer ...

Great series
I have always loved this series. Allan Cole and Chris Bunch started out with this series, and have gone on to their own works since then, one of them branching out into fantasy fiction. This is the story of Sten, a youth brought up in a tyrannical space colony. His ...

This is a MUST HAVE for all lovers of fantasy adventure!
We have something really special here! Too early to say if STORM OF WINGS will go on to Tolkienish heights with the lovers of the genre but what a start! And in all honesty, I would re-read this over Fellowship Of The Ring without a moments hesitation. Dragonmaster is ...

I like the Star Risk books, but this one was the best
I hesitantly got into the Star Risk, Lrd. books. To my delight, however, this series is both interesting and funny. The Dog From Hell, however, is really the cream of the crop, primarily because of its storyline. I liek how the members of Star Risk are able to get ...

I liked it.
This book is like the perfect airplane reading. I don't mean that in a bad way, either. It's lighthearted, not too dense -- just pure escapist sci-fi. One big annoyance, though, was the use of paragraphs in dialogue. Stuff that could've been one big chunk of ...
Knighthood of the Dragon: Dragonmaster, Book Two (Dragonmaster)

Military strategy
The military strategy was outstanding and throwing dragons into the mix made it more interesting.
